Uncertainty Principle - Acoustical Weapons Division

Released on 3" cdr on Texan underground label, Alarming Echo Beats in 2004. Leftover tracks from Sonic Terror, Imitators of Miracles and Toward Oblivion We Walk. Some in their original format, some given a bit of a rework and maybe just a little boost in tempo... Download

Uncertainty Principle - The Abyss

9th Uncertainty Principle release, written and recorded between 2003 and 2004. The Uncertainty Principle version of funeral doom. Crushing guitars, distant vocals and electronic bleakness, with some piano rearing it's ugly head now and then. Inspired by the writings of Crowley and is also a tribute to both John Peel and Tomas "Quorthon" Forsberg. Includes a cover version of Call From The Grave by Bathory, in honour of Quorthon's passing...

Uncertainty Principle vs Edge of Darkness - Necronomicon I,II and III

Uncertainty Principle vs Edge of Darkness, both projects of mine so really it's me vs me. Ok, it's just me.
These 3 recordings never saw the light of day and as far as I know, very few people have actually heard them. Basically, it is chapters from the Necronomicon put to music; though this version of the Necronomicon is basically just bastardised Sumerian texts. Much more ambient than anything else, with the occasional burst of guitar. Not really representative of either Uncertainty Principle or Edge of Darkness. Never the less, here are all three recordings: Download

Uncertainty Principle - Omega Point

8th Uncertainty Principle release, recorded in 2003; these are tracks that never made it onto the Distant cdr. Deals with the reality of death, the omega point, the return to non-sensory matter. I was never quite happy with these tracks, I felt they were somehow lacking compared to earlier recordings. Includes a nice and hefty version of Barber's Adagio for strings.

Uncertainty Principle - Distant

7th Uncertainty Principle release. An attempt at a more funeral doom sound, songs inspired by the feelings of longing and loss. Here and there a little of the old noise sound can be heard and a slight nod to the first U.P demo. Includes a reprise of Object of the Divine from the first demo, but with added noise madness this time! Distant was released on cdr through the NULLL Records label back in 2003.

Uncertainty Principle/Torture Wheel Split cdr

Uncertainty Principle/Torture Wheel split cdr, this was released through NULLL records back in 2003. Doom to make your eyes bleed and a further evolution of the Uncertainty Principle sound. Torture Wheel conjure some glacial funeral doom, like something scratching at your cellar door. Features a reinterpretation of Moonlight Sonatta by Beethoven. Download

Uncertainty Principle - Movement of the Spheres

6th Uncertainty Principle release. A total departure from the full on noise on earlier recordings, a more minimal approach with only 2 layers of guitar. Droning ambient doom inspired by the film Planet of the Apes, not quite what the cover brings to mind. This is what happens when you send Charlton Heston into space...

Uncertainty Principle - The Litany Against Fear

5th Uncertainty Principle release, recorded between 2002 and 2003, the last of the full on noise style. Also released on Alarming Echo Beats. Inspired by Frank Herbert's Dune series. Crushing uber-doom/noise representing the eroding sands of Arrakis and the Golden Path of the God-Emperor. Fear the sandworms...

Uncertainty Principle/The DSA Working - Split cdr

Split cdr with The DSA Working, an ambient project of the sadly passed away Tommy (Yeti, The Great Tyrant). Released on Texan underground label, Alarming Echo Beats back in 2003. An album of contrasts; the experimental ambience of The DSA Working and crushing doom/noise from Uncertainty Princple. The U.P tracks were inspired by the behaviour of fire ants. Any conceptual meaning behind the tracks by The DSA Working are sadly lost to the aether, along with their creator.

Uncertainty Principle - Grand Unification Energy

4th and best Uncertainty Principle release, written and recorded between 2001 and 2002. Inspired by the quest for a unified theory of everything, a quest that M-Theory shows us to be very probably futile. More complex than previous recordings, with punishing slabs of multi-layerd guitar and the ever-present crushing noise and ambience.

Uncertainty Principle - Toward Oblivion We Walk

3rd Uncertainty Principle release, written and recorded between 2000 and 2001. A continuation of the Sonic Terror sound, with maybe a more simplistic approach. Named after the intro track that represents humanity walking willingly toward it's own demise, and including a homage to Patrick Bateman from the novel American Psycho by Brett Easton Ellis. The other two tracks flirt with the concepts of entropy and also the loss of self and mental conditioning. Oh, and a whole shitload of meaningless noise! Download

Uncertainty Principle - Sonic Terror

2nd Uncertainty release. Written and recorded between 1997 and 2000, Sonic Terror was a massive step away from any pretense of wanting to sound like any other band. It was an experiment with the crossover of noise and extreme doom styles and the independent spirit and DIY ethos of bands like Today is the Day. It also represented my mental state at the time. The beginning of the end and the death of any kind of verse/chorus structure.

Uncertainty Principle - Imitators of Miracles

1st Uncertainty Principle demo, written and recorded between 1995 and 1997. It represented a move away from death metal and into other territories. Hugely inspired by Neurosis and the whole post-hardcore scene that was emerging at the time. Recorded using software that cost £20 and it shows. Whilst the sound quality is somewhat poor and any kind of production values being virtually non-existent, I feel that the songs themselves included some decent Ideas and formed the basis of future Uncertainty Principle recordings.
